Homes Offering Support and Training (H.O.S.T.) for Adults allows adults with disabilities the opportunity to thrive in a family environment and choose to live with a host family.

Homes Offering Support and Training (H.O.S.T.) for Children and Adolescents provides placements to Children and Adolescents in a host family model.


Homes Offering Support and Training (H.O.S.T.) for Adults provides support and advocacy for individuals in a family environment. With the help of host families, individuals strive to reach their full potential by becoming members of a larger community. H.O.S.T. for Adults presents the best opportunity for individuals to improve their quality of life by tailoring each individual placement and assessing each consumer’s needs.

Who is eligible for H.O.S.T. for Adults ?
Individuals who are at least 21 years of age and have been diagnosed with a developmental disability.

How is it funded?
There are several payment options for H.O.S.T. for Adults:

  1. State Contracted Services (Grant in Aid Funds)
  2. Medicaid Waiver Program
  3. Private Pay
  4. Third Party Sponsorship

Homes Offering Support and Training (H.O.S.T.) for Kids and Adolescents provides placements to children and adolescents in a host family model. GCSS provides safe, supportive family home environments to children with developmental disabilities.

H.O.S.T. homes focus on supporting children with severe behavior issues in addition to their disability. Using a therapeutic and team model, GCSS supports the child and host family with the ultimate goal of returning the child to their family of origin. GCSS is licensed to provide Child Placing Services under the Sate of Georgia.

Who is eligible for H.O.S.T. for Children and Adolescents?
Children and adolescents between the ages of six and twenty-two who have been diagnosed with a mental health issue or developmental disability are eligible.

How is it funded?
There are two main funding streams for H.O.S.T. for Kids and Adolescents

  • State Contracted Services (formerly known as Grant In Aid)
    This is for families based on a "most in need" status who do not have a Medicaid waiver.
  • Medicaid Waiver Program - Administered through the Georgia Department of Human Resources and disbursed to families based on “most-in-need” status. To learn more about this program contact the Regional Board Office of MHDDAD in your region.
  • Community Health Support and Services (CHSS) waiver
  • Private Pay - Individuals who do not qualify for the Medicaid Waiver Program can choose to pay for services themselves. Services in this program are provided on a sliding scale.
